Happy New Year Carvers
That’s right, it is a new year for our club. I think it has been a great year for the club. And I know it has been a most enjoyable time for me.
I want to thank the officers and board members for all their help, and I am grateful we are all back together for the coming year.
Because the club moved our year to begin on June 1, dues are now due on that date. Neil Zyp has sent a reminder to those who haven’t paid, and Rich DiFranco is ready to record them.
One of the perks for our dues is a summer celebration and we will announce the date following the June board on the 13th.
At the general membership meeting, we announced the use of a suggestion box. The box will make its appearance next Tuesday, June 6, 2023. Please use the box if you attend Tuesday meetings or let us know by other methods any ideas you may have.
Fresh ideas are good for the club. For example, I don’t remember who suggested a defibrillator be purchased for Cathcart, but it is happening. The church approved the request and Lee Servatius and Lisa Murphy-Stafford did the research, and a purchase is in the works.
I was at the Parks and Recreation facility near my home and saw a club advertisement on the bulletin board. I checked them out and have been a member ever since.
A friend in the neighborhood invited me to a meeting. Now Tuesdays don't quite feel right if I miss a meeting.
I attended a Showcase where someone at the membership table encouraged me to join. A member since 2015
After attending the showcase several times and nearing retirement, I joined the club. My first show yielded several ribbons!
A former member invited me 20+ years ago, and I joined. Life got in the way and carving was put aside, but my interest has sparked again recently.
