Happy Summer Solstice

Ah, summer has arrived. The days are getting warmer and longer. It won’t be long before we will be complaining about the heat! But for now, it is a very pleasant time and I hope everyone is enjoying themselves.
And just in time for summer, the government granted to the citizens the privilege of being in public unmasked. So we are a group that no longer is covered up.
We will have our annual summer picnic this year on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at 5:30pm. This year we will be at the Ligon and Cathcart centers, Carmel Presbyterian Church. Please bring a salad and desert. The main dish will be provided by the club. More information will follow in an email. Our other social event, the Christmas party, will be on December 7, 2021. Save the date.
We will carve again at the Matthews Farmer’s Market August 7, 2021, from 8am to noon. At the May market we gave out the little owl to small children. It was a joy to see their eyes light up when I said “would you like one?” We had 10 carvers join the group May 22, and, as usual, we had a great time. How about joining us in August?
Your club board voted to add a youth classification to our membership. Youths from age 12 to 18 will have full membership privileges for $5.00. Or, if an adult joins his/her son/daughter can join for free. We want to encourage people of all ages to join in the fun of woodcarving, and we hope this will encourage youth to get involved. As in the past, anyone under the age of 14 must have a parent present.
Summer has a flavor like no other. Always fresh and simmered in sunshine.
