President's Message

I would like to start out with some good news that we have successfully navigated having two woodcarving meetings at the Carmel Presbyterian Church on Tuesday from 3PM-7PM. Both meetings we have had 14 people show up to carve outdoors with us. Join us next time. Last week we had the library and wood closet open for business.
We have made our yearly donation to the church. The board donated $1000 to the church. Cameral Presbyterian Church has been so generous to our club with the space they allow us to use week after week. They received our gift and Thanked us for our donation.
Everything is on track for Wild Acres which will be held August 17th-23rd this year. Wild Acres is planning on opening in the middle of July so they will be up and ready for us to enjoy our retreat and woodcarving classes in August. To get away in this setting will be a treat.
We received the sad news that the Matthew’s Alive Festival held in September has been cancelled. Hopefully by next year we will again be able to participate and promote our hobby to the public. We will keep members informed as soon as we know about any changes in our schedule as we are informed. We are not planning any new classes until further notice.
Autumn Treasures Festival in Waxhaw is one more way we reach out to the public to promote our club and hobby. It is held the second weekend in October. The hours are Saturday 10AM-6PM and Sunday 12PM-4PM in Waxhaw. Local crafters, entertainment, along with great BBQ make this event one you do not want to miss. The Charlotte Woodcarving Club will have a tent and we will need club members to participate. Thanks goes out to Joe Bomba for heading up this event. This is still on the calendar and has not been cancelled at this time. We will update you with details as this festival gets closer.
We have scheduled the Christmas Holiday Dinner for the first Tuesday of December which is December 1st this year. The club will provide the meat, drinks and desserts again this year. Members are asked to bring a dish to pass that will serve 8 people. We are asking members to also bring can goods to donate to Loaves and Fishes like we have done in previous years.
We will remain closed on Tuesdays at the Woodcraft. Please join us at Carmel Presbyterian Church location from 3PM-7PM every Tuesday for carving and fellowship. We will continue to meet outside so bring a chair, mask and we will practice social distancing together.
