Happy Valentine’s Day
Well, as you know, things are still in a lockdown position, but that doesn’t mean we can’t carve even more.
We had our first, but not last, club meeting on zoom the last Tuesday in January. I should have taken a screen shot to show off how many participants we had. There were over twenty (20) online for about an hour. It gave us an opportunity to show off some of our recent work. We also had two out-of-town members, Kevin Applegate and Bill Johnson, who brought us unto date on the latest happenings in their lives. Kevin gave a good expo on online carving classes and Bill showed us his latest projects. The next club meeting will be February 23, 2021 at 7pm. Save the date. Login details will be out the week before.
Speaking of Kevin Applegate, class had to be cancelled/postponed due to enrollment. Kevin wants to come and do a class with us, but the time is just not right this early in 2021. I will, however, take an online class from him. I will be participate in carving “Tex” class March 27-28, and I am very much looking forward to the experience, and I will make a report in the April newsletter.
Plans for the 2021 Showcase of Woodcarvings progresses on. Bill Dominick has carved the Tom Wolfe “Beware of the Cat” caricature. He brought several copies to a Tuesday carve session this month. Now he must choose one he will enter in the show. Well done Bill! With only 4 months until the show, I hope you, like Bill, are getting a Tom Wolfe carving done. He has many to choose from.
Now, back to the headline, it is Valentine’s month. I am sure you and your valentine had a great day. Someone may have carved something special for valentines. If you did, please send me a photo and I will publish it in the March newsletter.
The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.
